Lord, Hear Our Prayer
Abba Father, the final petition in the prayer taught to us by our Lord Jesus is that You would deliver us from the evil one because to You alone belongs the Kingdom, the power, and the glory now and forever. And so at this time we bring before You this request, at a time in our world’s history when evil seems to have the upper hand more than it ever has, having made inroads into the hearts and minds of men - by the lies spread about by the father of lies and those who knowingly or unknowingly serve him. May he be rebuked and deposed forever from enthronement in the hearts of men, dear Father God!
We rejoice that the head of the Serpent, the old evil foe, has already been crushed on the hill of Golgotha, through the holy, innocent, bitter sufferings and death of Your only begotten Son - our Lord Jesus Christ. We have been ransomed by His precious blood! In Him through our Baptism we are dead to the evil one, the flesh, and the world. And you have decreed for us eternal life, so that death has no power over us! And so we pray that, in Your mercy and by the power of Your Holy Spirit, You will continually remind us not only of this, but that we have been made alive in Jesus’ resurrection and translated into Your kingdom of infinite Grace and power, so as to live rejoicing forever in all that You have given us - free from sin and victorious in the righteousness of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Lord, many have not heard the message of this gospel of deliverance from evil, and of the power over temptation and sin that You grant to us through Jesus’ work and by Your Holy Spirit. Consequently they still suffer in the turmoil and chains and darkness of addiction and despair. Many are tortured and oppressed in not only soul and mind, but in physical chains as well. And so we ask that You will send forth messengers to each and every one to share with them the Gospel of Jesus Christ, that they would be set free into the glorious liberty of the sons of God through Jesus our Lord, in Whose name we petition on their behalf. Let all who struggle with sin find release from its death grip through the Gospel’s presentation, and by the power of the Holy Spirit being poured out upon and into them, through Your holy Word, whether in the church or outside it.
Father God, we rejoice that in our Lord Jesus we have been given eternal life. Grant us love and boldness to reach out to all who are in need of this Good News, so that they may be set free in spirit, soul, body, and life circumstances from all the powers or works of darkness, and walk in the light of Your love, to the glory of Your holy name in Your Son Christ Jesus. Amen.
Abba Father, We give thanks that You have granted us a living Faith by Your Holy Spirit, through the Water and the living Word our Holy Baptism. As we enter upon another period of the workaday week, we humbly beseech You that You will grant us the wherewithal from Above, to live by faith in the promises of salvation that You have granted to us therein. Let us live in continual recognition of the need to daily drown the old Adam, and to live in such a way that reflects that we are raised up in our Lord Jesus - dead to self, sin, and Satan - but empowered by the Spirit from on High! Help us to be - in Jesus - as light of the world and salt of the earth in all our endeavors and interactions - of thought, word, and deed - with the world into which You have sent us, at home or away.
We ask for Your wisdom and grace to be poured into us and to shine through us in our calling and daily work, wherever You may have placed us, whether we are at home or in some other work setting, let us remember that we are purchased and won by the Blood of the Lamb, and that we reflect Your good grace and power, no matter how humble the task. At the times when we are alone, lift our hearts and minds up into the heavenly places with our Lord Jesus. Even in humble tasks let us acknowledge Your holy presence in the midst of them, and thus to give thanks. Above all help us to remember that the servant is no greater than his master, and thus to take our place as servants of all with Him, for which privilege we give You honor and praise.
The days are challenging ones, Lord, for those unemployed and the under employed. In Your mercy, Abba, please direct them to the promise of abundance through our Lord Jesus Christ, and then to fruitful work, so that there may be enough of bread on their tables and a roof over their heads to sustain them without peril to their spiritual, emotional, or physical wellbeing. Please grant them situations where there is balance in life, so that they are not robbed of time to turn to You in prayer and in devotion to Your word, in right priority of seeking first the kingdom of God, that all the necessities in life will be met and added unto them. And if there are any to whom You direct us to be charitable as they cross the bridge from lack to abundance, please open our awareness to these and our hearts in generosity toward them. Let us remember that whoever sows generously will also reap generously, according to Your promise for which we thank You.
Abba Father, we give thanks that You have provided generously through Your Son for the salvation of our neighbors, friends, and family near and afar. We remember before You those who have yet to be led by Your Holy Spirit into the knowledge of Your amazing grace in Jesus. (Names may be mentioned here.) Please open their hearts to receive what You have provided for all humankind, and to hunger and thirst only for the righteousness which is found in Christ Jesus. If there are any with whom You would have us share the Gospel, then please clearly direct us and open up the opportunity. Grant us the words to say, full of light and grace. Please give clarity to those who are in the faith, but need to grow in understanding and grace. Help us to be ready “in season and out of season” to share Your precious gospel with any to whom You call us, and grant us the boldness to do so in Jesus’ name.
Father God, we bring before You concern for all schools - both parochial and public, colleges and universities, trade schools, seminaries, and also precious homeschoolers. Lord, our education systems have been under attack for over a half century. Your name, Your ways, Your commandments, and prayer have been supplanted by humanistic and godless philosophies. Lord, in Your mercy, please grant that these works and schemes of the devil may be thwarted and overturned, and that our educational institutions - not just in the USA, but all over the world - will be given over to the ways of the Kingdom of Heaven once again, where the very highest wisdom of Your Mind, Your ways, and Your will are honored, blessed, and practiced and Your name held in highest regard. For we know that the minds of our young people will determine the future, so let them be guarded and guided with the Spirit of the Most High, for the good of all.
What follows this is our plea that godliness and integrity will reign in the workplace and corporate world. Even among those who do not know Your name, we pray that there will be in practice codes of ethics, integrity, and honorable and honest practices. For all Your children who represent You, Father God, in the workplaces, we pray that Your Holy Spirit will guide and work through them / us in ways that only bring honor to Your name.
For righteousness and Godly wisdom we do pray, Lord, in all branches of government and leaders all over the world, and in the military. We especially ask that Your protection, wisdom, and power for godliness be with our President and the Executive branch of the US leadership, as well as the Legislative and Judicial branches. Let all who oppose righteousness be exposed and their wickedness and treachery be dispatched with haste through justice and the rule of law. Where possible let hearts be changed toward repentance and a turning to the Lord Jesus Christ, that we who are called by Your name may lead godly and productive lives in peace, and that the Gospel may go forward unimpeded and Your will be done forevermore. Let all unrighteous and immoral laws be repealed and overturned, especially for the sake of the unborn and all innocents who cannot speak for themselves. Lord in Your mercy, hear our prayer!
May the peace that comes from Above reign in all hearts, Lord, that we may be also at peace with one another - living in lovingkindness and understanding to the glory of Your name in Christ Jesus our Lord.
We rejoice and praise You for Your promise, Abba, through our Lord Jesus Christ, that if two of us shall agree on earth as touching anything for which we shall ask, that it shall be done by You; for where two or three have gathered together in Your Name, You are here in our midst. Please forgive the limitations of our faltering words and thoughts, and may the Holy Spirit attend to this with His intercessions in sighs too deep for words!
And so we beseech You, Lord, let it be so now according to Your will and Your Word, in Christ Jesus our all powerful Lord and Savior, now and forever. Amen.

Our gracious Heavenly Father, another week draws to its close, as we anticipate the Lord’s Day tomorrow and the privilege of gathering together with our fellow believers called to be saints in our various houses of worship.
Lord we know that the way is narrow and hard that leads to life, and some grow discouraged, especially in these times as the Body of Christ is under threat from all sorts of directions, within and without. Please send Your Holy Spirit to revive the faint of heart, so that we all may be faithful in Christ and to the Gospel to the end. Help us to be encouragers of one another, in the power of Your love.
Some have withered in the faith due to sense of hopelessness in life, or due to the relentless pressures of the forces of evil upon them. As You lead, Lord, let us be Your hands and feet where necessary, or Your listening ear of understanding and comfort. Please help the discouraged to remember that all things are working together for the good of those who love You. Please let us all encourage one another in the faith, and to remind one another that often the evil one will bring oppression upon us so that we will not move forward to a blessing that lies ahead. Help us to pray for and with one another, and to not merely look after our own concerns, but to love as You love us. Grant us all refreshment and revival when we falter, and forgive us and renew us if we fall.
Lord, please grant awakening and a hunger and thirst for You and for returning home to those who have fallen away. Help them to know that with You there is forgiveness and plenteous redemption. Lead them home to Your Presence and fulness of joy among the Body of Christ once more, and help them to find comfort among loving and grace filled fellowship.
And may all who seek to worship You in Spirit and in Truth come together with our brothers and sisters as one in You, dear Abba. Let us remember how You sent our Elder Brother to shed His blood on our behalf to ransom and renew us and to bring us back to You and to one another. Help us to penitently and gratefully receive His Body and Blood in the Lord’s Supper, and to be refreshed through the Holy Spirit in Your Word. Let us prepare this evening and before we come before Your altar in the morning to receive Your holy gifts.
We give You all thanks, honor, praise and glory for hearing and answering these our prayers, in the holy and almighty name of Jesus Christ, the name that is above every name, and the only name whereby we must be saved. Amen.

Dearest Abba, our God and Father, as we draw nearer to the close of another week, with the view of upcoming opportunities to gather with Your Holy Body in worship, we lift up to You with grateful hearts all who serve as pastors, teachers, deacons, deaconesses, elders, church workers, musicians, artists, and writers - whom You have called and gifted in special capacities to be servants of Your holy word. We bring before Your remembrance also all missionaries and all who serve in ways great or small in Your Church - which is all of us who are the royal priesthood of all believers, called to be saints and servants of the Most High.
Father, please grant to us all - in our capacities among Your Body - the anointing of Your Holy Spirit according to our gifts and callings within the purposes for which You have granted them. Impart Your wisdom and direction in all things. Let us all be of one mind with You, in all that needs to be communicated, so that the Word, and the Spirit of the Word that goes forth from us, is as You would have it to be - in Your concern, gentleness, and humility - for the eternal wellbeing of all, that it may bring grace, strength, growth, and encouragement in Your truth, that all the saints may be brought to the fullness of the stature of Christ. Where necessary let admonishment - the truth in love - also be spoken firmly yet gently. And let all hunger and thirst for a life of prayer and Your Holy Word.
Help us to remember to put on the Mind of Christ, and grant us repentant hearts where our attitude has not been one of humility, forsaking self and vainglory. Cause us to love as You have loved us. Please, Abba, forgive us where we have failed, but let us not despair or draw back in our failure, but come to that magnificent banquet table, in the presence of our enemies, to which You have brought us in the Blessed Sacrament of our Lord’s Body and Blood, there to receive Your healing and forgiveness, as we taste and see that our Lord is good! For this we give You thanks and praise, as we come as we are in our need which only You can satisfy.
Father, please bless and guard from temptation of the evil one, the world, or the flesh all who serve in Your Church. Guard them from deception and cover them with the blood of Jesus Christ, so that they will not become stumbling blocks to those in their care, nor themselves be unfruitful in their service. Please grant to all, as Paul prayed, a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Jesus Christ. Let the eyes of our heart be enlightened, so that we will know what is the hope of Your calling, what are the riches of the glory of Your inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of Your power toward us who believe. And then let this vision energize us with zeal, hope, and faithfulness in the challenging times into which You have sent us.
Let us remember that as our Master is, so we are to be - the servants of all. In His name, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

Dear Father in Heaven,
You have invited us to bring all our requests and concerns to You, and have promised to hear us. We sometimes are greatly bothered by anxiety in this life and feel deeply troubled, but we ask You to remind us always at such moments to turn to You, and to cast all our cares on You. Thank You for Your many great and precious promises to us, such as 1 Peter 5:7, "Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you."
Help us to always turn to the truth of Your word, and to meditate on it. Please keep us mindful that You have the very hairs of our heads all numbered, and that if You care for the tiny sparrows, then surely You care for Your children whom You have created, and also have redeemed from the dominion of evil and darkness through the passion of Your Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus. Please keep us in mind of Him, and Your love for us in Him, in whose name we pray, as we trust in Your Word and promises.
Please send to us Your Holy Spirit of truth, so that we will comprehend the depth of Your love for us. Keep us steadfast in Your Word. May Your Spirit grant us understanding to walk in Your ways, which are always for our good and Your glory.
