Battle For Life

Thoughts on T. A. Sparks Daily Post: The Battle For Life - Chapter 5

A Christian can be regarded as an “evidence based work in progress.” The growing evidence of Christ is us, the hope of glory, that is. The Holy Spirit first awakens in us the revelation of Jesus Christ, just as the Father revealed Him to Peter, so that we too confess from the heart, "Thou art the Christ, Son of the living God." Thus, "No one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit." Even the initial confession of faith is His doing.

"Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the Father also loves the one born of Him." "Whoever does not have the Son does not have life."

"If you know that He is righteous, you also know that everyone who practices righteousness is born of Him." There is a practice of righteousness, which is the fruit of the Spirit... "Anyone born of God refuses to practice sin, because God's seed abides in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God."

The motivation and direction of life changes."Whoever has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me. The one who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and reveal Myself to him." There is a deeper interaction with Jesus.

”By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another." This implies the communal aspect of love for one another, where we share our gifts and build up one another as the Body of Christ. This is a significant witness to the world.

Since we are this work in progress, we will need to confess our sin and receive forgiveness, and keep on going and growing."If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." God's forgiveness isn't a pass to go on sinning; it is the power from Him to stand and to begin again when we fall. He cleanses us and sets us free, time after time, far beyond the “70 times 7” the disciples asked about. The point is to keep on keeping on.

What a gift, this call to be in Christ, living as His New Creation! And according to His promise, He will never leave us or forsake us. Life in Christ, and with Christ in us, is a reality, an intimate and ultimate spiritual relationship, not another religion.
