Earthbound Or Heaven Bound?
Scriptural basis: "He died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for Him." (2 Corinthians 5:15 NIV)
Per Mr. T Austin Sparks, "The one great effort of the enemy, which is again and again successful through this dispensation, has been to bring the things of God down to the attachment with this world, attachment to this earth, to make them something here... Christ is in heaven, and we are lifted out, translated, seated together with Him in the heavenlies. Our present purpose in this world is testimony only, by which others will be taken out of the nations, a people for His name." ( From That Which Was From The Beginning - Chapter 1)
To remember in times like these, and at all times, WHOSE we are, WHO we are, WHERE we are spiritually, and about WHOSE business we are to be must be the focus. All things on earth and in the rest of the creation are subject to change and decay. Potentates, politicians, presidents, and platforms will all pass away. But the Word of the Lord abides forever, and His purposes for us and for all things will never be thwarted!
"For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now." Romans 8:18-22.
The question is, is my vision becoming more and more God's vision for myself, all others, and all creation, or am I bound up in and reacting to limited and limiting earthbound perceptions of what is good, better, or best?
When we cannot make sense of things, God invites us to ask for Wisdom, which He freely gives, if we will ask with faith and not doubt. See James 1.
Wisdom clearly makes herself available to all who sincerely ask, seek, and knock.
"Does not wisdom cry out, And understanding lift up her voice? She takes her stand on the top of the high hill, Beside the way, where the paths meet. She cries out by the gates, at the entry of the city, At the entrance of the doors... Receive my instruction, and not silver, And knowledge rather than choice gold... For wisdom is better than rubies, And all the things one may desire cannot be compared with her." (Proverbs 8)
