Praise Versus Complaint
See Psalm 117. “Praise... Laud Him... Praise the Lord.”
(Praise could be called positive synergy. Complaint is negative synergy. Choose you this day...)
The shortest of the Psalms carries a “global” message about how entire nations, peoples, depending on the translation, ought to relate to God. Praise is the first order of peace on Earth, which everyone claims to desire. Yet both God and peace are rejected and often violently pushed aside in favor of humanistic ideas about how to bring peace. Gratitude and praise in acknowledgement of the Prince of peace is most often rejected in favor of complaint, envy, and rebellion enshrined by those who seek absolute control instead. The truth that “His merciful kindness is great toward us, and the truth of the Lord endures forever” is rejected.
Yet the world under the power of the devil goes its militaristic way, marshaling it’s resources, and implementing draconian programs and war technologies to rob, kill, and destroy life, liveliness, and livelihood wherever possible. For the advantage of the few who believe they are to rule others.
The leaders of these efforts do not even realize who is directing and orchestrating their manipulations. Or do they? Some probably do and are well aware of their evil master, who is filled with venomous envy, hatred, and murderousness toward our Creator and Redeemer and all who receive Him and His governance of merciful kindness and truth.
These “hosts” to wickedness have been offered a “deal” in exchange for their souls and their services. Being lustful for power, they have bought into the lie of all lies from the father of lies, and will, if they continue on their way, be themselves robbed of the eternal Good they might have had, if they had acknowledged and received the Prince of Peace.
These are the same ilk who have been strutting on the world stage for decades. Everyone knows their names, who embrace and promote false paradigms and vain philosophies which consist of deceit, and promote envy, hatred, and complaint. Pretending to defend the poor and downtrodden, they set up the images of their false “storefronts” behind which goes on the business of rebellion against God and the hatred of the rest of mankind.
This latest clown crop is the most recent rendition of what has been so since the beginning. The Psalmist, David, well understood how this works. He was the King (and type of Christ) who reigned in behalf of the Lord. He was called the man after God’s own heart. His experience was often that of one hunted by the “New World Order” of his day, some of whom were members of his own household.
David the songwriter well understood the power of praise, how it engenders a “force field”, so to speak, of spiritual protection and abundance when utilized, for we know that the Lord is enthroned upon the praises of His people! Psalm 22:3.
When praise “goes up” God “comes down.” This is why praise is synergistic!
Likewise the opposite is true: complaint sets up a barrier against the Good of God, both spiritually and materially.
Perhaps we need to change our approach in practice?
When we complain we are not walking by faith, but rather wallowing in what the news brings to our views. We set ourselves outside the flow of His good, grace, and glory. Let us remember, good Christian folk, our kingdom is not of this world, if we truly understand our Lord Jesus and walk with Him.
So, did you ever wonder why singing was, and in some cases is, forbidden during these lockdowns? It had nothing to do with spreading contagion. What it does confront and has the power to thwart entirely is the advance of evil!!!
God is Love. Praise acknowledges and invites Him. This dynamic increases all the more when we gather with other believers for praise and worship and prayer and the Word of God. The forces of darkness know this! So they had to come up with another lie - keeping the public “safe” from disease- to get the closure of worship gatherings and put a stop to praise and prayer. This is where the spiritual warfare essentially and effectively takes place, through the saints gathered for worship. It’s where we “show up for work.”
Praise acknowledges and invites God’s love and power. We are to devote ourselves to prayer. Colossians 4:2. Praise is prayer in song! These days it is of vital importance to continually practice prayer and praise. What we see and hear is not the determinant of our truth, nor does it need to determine our outcome, since “appearances” can be very deceiving.
Praise is the exercise of faith. But when the Son of Man returns, will He find faith on the earth? Luke 18:8.
Surely we do well to be about our Father’s business to “See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all. Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit.” 1 Thessalonians 5:15-19.
He may be waiting for us to respond to the times in this way.
Solo Deo Gloria! Amen.
